 Many private individuals recycle at home with gusto but most large corporations continue to throw out huge quantities of rubbish that could be recycled. Mineral Star separates all its output from the off cuts of materials used on site to separating glossy 'junk mail' from normal office paper recycling. Mineral Star Roofing uses simple things like double sided photocopying and refilling ink cartridges to further reduce its consumption of paper and ancillary products. Simple initiatives like these could save millions of trees if undertaken by all companies and Mineral Star Roofing are dedicated to being at the forefront of any environmental initiative.

Green Roofs
'Growing' roofs are not something of the future any more. Mineral Star Roofing can, and do install green and growing roofs time and time again. With an impressive history and reference list of their installed green roofs, Mineral Star Roofing are proud of this 'strong arrow' to their bow.
Green roofs are made up of sedum plants or wild flowers installed on top of a waterproofing system , these green roofs have the effect of removing harmful pollutants from the air, reducing water runoff and protecting the waterproofing system to elongate its design life. There are some green roofs in London that have  protected the waterproofing systems underneath and preserved those roofs for over a hundred years. These green roofs provide ideal nesting for many of our rare native birds such as the Nightingales, and as can be seen from the pictures reduce the visual impact on the local environment in addition to being advantageous to the more global environment!
Recycled materials
 Mineral Star Roofing uses many materials that are totally recyclable and environmentally friendly. Single ply roofing in particular has a history of using PVC membranes that had plasticizers that leeched from the material and migrated into the food chain. Mineral Star Roofing has embraced the use of locked in plasticizers and Thermal Plastic Polyolefin membranes that are totally inert and environmentally friendly.
Mineral Star Roofing is also dedicated to hunting down the newest technology in relation to 'green products' and is happy to encourage the use of membranes such as 'Esha Universal' which contains an impressive 40% or more recycled plastics in its manufacture, plus is totally recyclable and having a forty year plus design life.
